Some Ecclesiastical Embroidery Images

Posted by MeganH in

I happened to pick image showing details, though most show the full garments (it's actually a search on "copes") (as IF I was not going to pick the rose!)

Two pages of images from various people.

If you search on "Vestments" http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=vestment 7 pages come up although many of contemporary made vestments.

Any other good words to search on?

Possible search terms: chasuble, stole, dalmatic, tunicle, frontal (altar frontal), fair linen, orphrey (although orphrey refers to the band, not a garment), alb (although albs are usually pain), cassock (see alb), parament (this is a little panel or banner-y thing that hangs off the pulpit).

I love that rose!

Nicola - thanks. Lots of words! I could have just listed out the contents from an Ecclesiatical embroidery book, but I was being lazy.

Lots of fun searching to be had then!

Rachel - just bumbling around the Net. Not strong enough to *do* anything, but well enough to use the computer, so I'm researching bits and pieces and then getting distracted by something and ending up in all sorts of strange places! :-)
