Historical Sampler - Heavy Chain Stitch Stem

Posted by MeganH in

The photo of the entire sampler shows a realistic version of the stem in Heavy Chain Stitch.

And it IS too wobbly!

I'm re-doing it. I got 2/3 done yesterday before my hand went numb.

I've discovered that tension is the culprit - pull too tight and you go all skinny.

Where is your practice cloth? You showed it hooped up. Using it saves a lot of unstitching.

I did use my doodle cloth until I *knew* the stitch.

But I didn't do lots and lots of it on the doodle cloth. It's only now that I'm really learning it.

I don't mind re-doing things. It's to be expected when I haven't done these stitches before.
