Thistle Thread OnLine University

I'm jumping up and down and saying "squee" a lot! How fantastic are the on-line courses are that Tricia Nguyen is offering!

I'm going to do the Master Goldwork class. I wanted to do the Glove class as well, but there's a 4 month overlap in fees, and I can't afford that.

It means getting Japanese needles. I don't know if I'm responsible enough to have a Japanese needle.

So who else is going to do a course??

I asked Tricia about catering for us southpaws, and she said she'd reverse all the stitching diagrams in Photoshop for us.

Edit - And then I spoke to Tricia some more. There will be a forum/group where we can chat/discuss issues during the course(s). And Yvette Stanton is talking to her re the Southpaw support issues. :-)

On the health side of things, it looks like I have a hiatus hernia, on top of the Myalgic Enchephatis relapse that started in May. I see the specialist on 23rd November, and will have a gastroscopy sometime after that.

Meanwhile, I have some days where I can sit up, and some days where the stomach acid burns my digestive tract too much and I can't.

I'm working on decorating dresses atm - had 3 sessions so far. I should document it, so y'all can see what I'm doing.

Oh, I BADLY want to take one of the classes, but I kind of doubt I'll be able to afford either, and I'm not sure I'd be good at following-through and actually staying caught up on the lessons. They both look so wonderful, though....

Both the glove and the goldwork are VERY tempting. I'm going to have to resume selling some stash on eBay. Working only part time combined with high medical bills the past two years (with more expected next year) is not conducive to courses like this!

The courses should be excellent, you're right. And you're also right that you should document your dress decoration project if you can - I'd love to see it!

My husband is giving me the goldwork course as a Christmas gift! So we'll trade hints. I NEED it because we are making coifs for a local museum that has costumed interpreters dressed for the 1630s - and we are going to try reproduce the one in the collection (we being my EGA chapter). It will be great fun.
Hope your health improves - take care of yourself.

Oh, you lucky duck! I would love to be able to do this course as it would fit in perfectly with a future project I want to design. Since several things are unstable at this time I don't feel comfortable with committing to it due to the length of time it runs. So, I will live vicariously through you! Perhaps Tricia will offer it again in the future. I do hope your doctors can do something to ease your pain and discomfort. That acid stuff is wicked.
