Ongoing.......

I've been debating whether or not to drop out of the Masterclass. It's going to be another 4 months or so before I can sit up without pain, I found out today. And that is on top of my existing full body pain condition Fibromyalgia.

My friends, in particular Julie here on-line, and Alison IRL, have encouraging me to do (actually, one said she would yell if I didn't, and the other threatened to beat me up, but they meant it in the nicest way).

I can catch up later on if I can't do much in the first few months.

I have been able to do about 4 hours on that black dress. I'll take some photos and put them up when I can.

Hi Megan

I think that you should definitely do it. There will be so much historical background to read, links to follow and research, and images to study, there will be plenty to keep you amused until you are ready to begin stitching. Also it appears to me that the spot sampler has lots of small samples which will be idea for short stitching sessions.

But most of all, the things I regret most in life are the things I DIDN'T do.

I think you should stick with it if you can, but work at your own pace and don't feel you have to keep to someone else's timetable. It's not worth making yourself worse for, but if you do what you can when you can, I'm sure that in the months to come when you're feeling better, you'll be glad you did.

No Megan, you don't get to yell at me if I don't eat enough or exercise. Besides, looking at everything will be fun. And, like I said, you already have your Evertites!

As someone who knows how overwhelming the pain of CFS (which is similar to fibromyalgia) can be, I don't know how you would be able to concentrate, or even do small amounts of stitching. I know any stitching was too much for me. And concentrating was simply out of the question.

Sure, it would be a pity to have to drop out, but it would also be a pity to completely stuff the next few years of your life because you were overdoing it...

Its a weighing up sort of thing. Yes, you might regret not having done it, but if not doing it allows you to conserve energy so that you can get better, then personally, I think that getting better is the better option.

Sometimes you just have to kiss some things goodbye. Have a cry about it then move on. Regrets aren't going to help, so rather than regret the things you've missed, appreciate the things you have.

I hope that doesn't sound like a whole heap of platitudes. I mean it from the heart, as someone who's been in a very similar place to you, and would love you to be where my health is now.

With much love,
Yvette
